Chapter 9
Taylor crept into the house making sure not to wake anyone. He decided against sleeping in his room. He didn't want to deal with Isaac first thing in the morning.
He got a blanket and pillow out of the hall closet and curled up on the couch.
Just as he dozed off he heard someone whisper his name. He turned to see Avery standing at the entrance to the den.
"What's wrong Avie?" he asked as quietly as he could.
"I'm sorry Jordan. I can't sleep," she said walking closer.
"It's okay. You can stay in here with me tonight," he said lifting the covers so she could lay down.
She climbed under the covers and laid down using Taylor's arm as a pillow.
"Avie are you ok? You feel like you've been sweating," Taylor asked after noticing that her hair felt damp with sweat.
"I'm fine it was just hot in my room," she said falling asleep as she said the last word.
Taylor watched her sleep until he fell asleep himself, putting the worry of Avie being sick in the back of his mind.
